General Motors launched the Buick Rendezvous in the year 2002. Generally, a lot of sports utility vehicles have many disadvantages. They cannot be driven on any roads unless they are perfectly smooth, their seating capacity is very low and the seating height too is less. In an attempt to correct all these features, the Buick Rendezvous was launched.

It was marketed as a combination of a sports utility vehicle, a minivan and a luxury vehicle, combining all their best features. The Rendezvous provided an all wheel drive system called Versatrak to help in the movement even in times of snow, an independent rear suspension system, seating capacity up to seven along with a third row, storage space and several other features. The Buick Rendezvous was manufactured from the year 2002 to 2007.

The 2004 Buick Rendezvous came with a more powerful V6 engine. It was offered in five levels of CX, CX Plus, CXL, CXL Plus, and Ultra. It had a 3350 cc 3.6 L V6 engine delivering 185 horsepower with the option of front wheel drive or all wheel drive whereas the Ultra which was newly introduced had a 3.6L V6 engine delivering up to 254 hp with leather seating and a security system. At a height of 68.9 inches without the roof rack, it stood tall. The red light at the rear was reduced by two inches.

The Buick Rendezvous was originally priced at $26,420 - $29,610 according to the model offered. A satellite radio and dvd entertainment system were offered as options. It had fuel economy of 18-19 mpg on the city roads and 24-26 mpg on highways.

From 2007 the production of Buick Rendezvous stopped and as such the latest Rendezvous model in the current 2009 market of Buick is the 2007 version. Only the CX and CXL trims versions were made available. It had a rear park assist system which could detect obstacles while parking. Only front wheel drive was made possible in these models.

The CXL version was equipped with mahogany wheels which were offered as an option in the CX model. It has a fuel economy of 19 mpg on city roads and 26 mpg on highways. The prices ranged from $25,190 - $28,765.The engine was a 3498 cc 3.5 L V6 offering 195 hp.

The interiors, styling and some of the features it offered did not appeal to customers and as such its production was halted in 2007. However in spite of some weaknesses ,it is still bought by people, who like its features of space, fuel economy and ride comfort.

Decisions, decisions, decisions. People who buy a vehicle always have plenty of decisions to make in regards to their purchase. The fun things are choosing a make, model and color. Options are also exciting. However, there is another decision that is not considered fun to make, but it is very necessary. This decision is securing insurance for the vehicle. The best thing to do is to determine how much the annual insurance premiums will be on a vehicle that you are contemplating purchasing. Annual insurance premiums can range anywhere from what is considered cheap car insurance at slightly over four thousand dollars to over ten thousand dollars.

For a comprehensive view of the vehicles that currently command the highest dollar amount in insurance premiums and those that command the cheapest car insurance, you can check out the following table that presents the information in detail. Research provided by Insurance.com is the source of the information in the table. The table presents the cheapest and most expensive premiums per year for vehicles in the following groups: Trucks, Vans/Wagons, Crossovers/SUVs, Passenger Cars and Sports Cars. The groups are also classified as Large, Midsize or Small vehicles.

The following table presents information regarding the most and least expensive annual premiums in each group:

Group Highest Premiums Cheapest Premiums

Lg. Crossover/SUV: Mercedes-Benz G-Class $2,088 Hyundai Veracruz $977

Midsize Crossover/SUV: Infiniti EX $1,306 Hyundai Santa Fe $832

Small Crossover/SUV: Mazda Tribute Hybrid $ 1,372 Kia Sportage $840

Lrg. Passenger: Audi S8 $2,071 Pontiac Grand Prix $902

Midsize Passenger: Audi S6 $1,571 Subaru Legacy $962

Small Passenger: Volkswagen Eos $1,198 Kia Rio5 $870

Small Sports Car: Dodge Viper convertible $2,580 Mazda MX-5 Miata $1,017

Lrg. Truck: Cadillac Escalade EXT $1,592 GMC Sierra2500HD $1,013

Midsize Truck: Dodge Dakota $1,279 Ford Expl Sport Trac $1,070

Small Truck: Chevrolet Colorado $1,147 Mazda Truck $957

Lrg. Van/Wagon: BMW 5-Series Sports Wagon $1,153 Chevy Uplander $831

A large vehicle such as the Mercedes Benz G-Class Sport Utility Vehicle will cost you over two thousand dollars per year in annual insurance premiums. It is, in fact, one of the most expensive vehicles listed to insure, and is not considered to be cheap car insurance. However, you will shell out even more cash if you choose to be the proud owner of a fast moving sports car called a Dodge Viper convertible. This car commands a hefty annual insurance premium of $2,580.

Audi, surprisingly, will set you back the greatest amount each year in both the large and midsize passenger car categories. The popular Cadillac Escalade EXT, categorized as a truck in this survey, seems almost modestly priced at $ 1,592 per year.

The size of the vehicle doesn’t really dictate the amount of the annual insurance premiums. For example. you can insure a vehicle such as the BMW 5 Series Sports Wagon, which is part of the Large Van and Wagon group for $1,153, which seems quite reasonable. However, if you really want the cheapest annual insurance premiums, go for the Chevrolet Uplander which is also from the Large Van and Wagon category and insures for $831 per year.

When a person purchases a pickup truck, chances are it will be used for hauling many things. Sometimes it may not be the things of the owner, but things friends need help moving. There are a number of things that can cause damage to the bed of a truck. All pick ups should have a truck bed covers installed to protect it.

The first style of truck bed cover is the cheapest kind. There are two types of these; one is a simple rubber mat that is cut to custom fit a truck bed. The other is a plastic insert that simply slides into the bed, creating a perfect fit.

Another common type of truck bed cover is a cap. A cap fits directly to the top of the truck bed edge and sealed with foam to avoid leaks. A cap is used to protect equipment while being hauled, such as hunting and fishing equipment. Caps usually lock to keep anything under it from being stolen.

Next is the tarp truck bed cover. A tarp is usually black, and snaps into place creating the entire bed to be covered. Tarps collect dust more than any other type of truck bed cover, but they look nice if they are clean. Removal and replacement of a tarp can be a very difficult task. The tarp must be warm so it can stretch otherwise there will be some resistance.

The next kind of truck bed cover is the tanaeu cover. These covers are painted the exact color of the bed of the truck and have hydraulic arms on each side near the cab of the truck. These arms assist to raise the cover. These covers are solid material, and are equipped with a lock. Tanaeu covers are extremely expensive, but they look sharp.

Most truck engines outlast their beds. This is why choosing one of the above truck bed covers is a wise decision. Although it is fairly easy to switch truck beds, rust looks terrible and is not very safe. Truck bed covers can sometimes come in an assortment of colors. Like any other accessory there are many choices and customized looks available. Choose the one that looks the best, fits your budget and most of all provides the protect necessary to fit the needs of the owner of the truck. Trucks are built for work, so take care of them.

Not only are many of the standard features that would be considered expensive options on other SUV’s of its class, this vehicle is technologically superior, luxurious and an overall versatile functional vehicle with enough power to satisfy any need.

Driving the 20 foot long 2005 Yukon Denali is surprisingly easy. The maneuverability is second to none. Although high above the ground, it rides as smooth as you would in a car. There is plenty of room inside the vehicle, and there is enough storage to satisfy almost any need. Not only is the Denali a very comfortable ride, it is strong enough to tow over 5,000 lbs easily. Combined with the beautiful design, this vehicle works hard, and plays hard! And looks beautiful while doing both.

This luxury SUV is in the same class as the Escalade, but surpasses the competition on so many ways. You can upgrade anything available and add any option that is available, and the bottom line will remain around $50,000.

There is more to comfort than just legroom and the seats. Temperature can make even the most beautiful vehicles an uncomfortable situation. The Denali has solved this problem as well. With the multi-zone climate control system, each passenger can set their zone to the temperature they want. Each zone has controls, and the person sitting there has the power. Another feature that anyone can appreciate on cooler days is available to everyone in the vehicle. Heated seats are not only in the front, but the remainder of the seats can enjoy the extra warmth.

All wheel drive comes standard, and handles beautifully in almost any road condition, including snow. Coupled with GM’s anti skid system and antilock brakes, you can be assured that difficult driving conditions will be easier to handle. Regardless of the situation, you can be assured that braking is responsive.

Some of the features that the Denali has exceeds the features of more expensive luxury SUV’s. Standard to the vehicle is On Star and a DVD entertainment system. The radio is XM ready. On top of this you can upgrade to a navigation system that controls virtually every aspect of the car’s entertainment with the simplicity of a touch screen. The ceiling boasts a large sun roof. One interesting feature is that the tire pressure is automatically monitored. Not only is this an amazing safety feature, it also will help keep your gas mileage at the optimal level. Front side air bags are also standard in the Denali.

With plenty of horsepower and a fast engine, this vehicle can handle almost any situation. Adding to that, the safety features, the gas mileage and the luxury features you get a vehicle that is not only safe, but a true work of automotive art.

Discuss Whether or not to Use Older CI-4 Rated Diesel Oil Instead of the Newer CJ-4?

Posted by Michael Kaufman on June 30th, 2009 filed in Trucks

I often hear companies conversing about the relative pluses and minuses of the more recent API CJ-4 rated oils vs. the CI-4 rated diesel oils that came before. As a result, it seems that it would be a good idea for us to clarify a few things about the differences between the two oil types.

Quite a few folks are wanting to purchase our 15w40 viscosity AMSOIL synthetic diesel oil. Generally, this is either because they fear moving to a “lower” viscosity 5w30, 10w30, 5w40 or 10w40 oil or because they’ve heard horror stories regarding the new CJ-4 rated oils.

Key Additives Reduced in CJ-4 Oils

We want our customers to know that, our AME 15w40 oil has not been blended to meet API CJ-4 specs because in order to meet CJ-4 classification requirements motor oil producers were required to make significant reductions in the levels of key additives in fighting acid - and thus corrosion within the engine (TBN was lowered).

Are Oil Drain Intervals Shortened?

Because the TBN of CJ-4 oils has dropped, many diesel owners are making the assumption that the extended drain capabilities of API CJ-4 oils should be much less as compared to the older CI-4 oils with better acid fighting ability in order to make the oils more compatible with Exhaust Gas Recirculation systems found on those vehicles sold as a 2007 model or beyond.

These newer EGR systems are putting HEAVY soot load on the oil. As a result, oil manufacturers have increased the dispersant and detergent additives in the new CJ-4 oils - keeping things clean is always a good thing.

Moreover, lesser quality CI-4 diesel engine oils (petroleum and “pseudo-synthetic” based) have had to implement upgrades to their basestock quality in order to meet CJ-4 specs. Thus, the CJ-4 oils are, in respects to their basestock, a higher quality lubricant. In contrast, if you’re comparing premium CJ-4 rated SYNTHETIC oils, the base stocks are likely pretty similar to their CI-4 predecessors since the original basestocks used for the CI-4 rated oils were likely already able to meet CJ-4 classification requirements.

In actuality, in most respects, API CJ-4 rated diesel oils offer better performance than oils meeting only the CI-4 or CI-4+ classification. In actuality, the shorter drain interval possibility is really the only potential drawback to moving from a CI-4 to a CJ-4 oil. Of course, it’s a pretty good bet that, if you don’t often take your oil to the limit of it’s drain interval capabilities anyway, you probably won’t notice this difference between the two oils..

It is actually quite common for diesel owners to drain their oil long before it is necessary. In most cases, this is simply because they fear that longer drain intervals will not effectively protect their expensive engines. So, even though the CI-4 15w40 oil MIGHT offer a longer drain than our CJ-4 5w40, it’s likely that most end users will not notice because they never take their oil to the limit anyway.

An additional valid consideration is that oil analysis results of CJ-4 users are painting a differnt picture - one which suggests that CJ-4 oils, even though lower in INITIAL TBN, may actually have the capability to RETAIN their ability to fight acid build-up better than CI-4 rated oils. Time will tell if these initial oil analysis results prove to hold true and CJ-4 rates oils will be able to offer long drain capability such as that found in higher TBN CI-4 rated oils.

The end result: If you don’t intend on trying to extend your oil drain intervals beyond what is typical, and even if you do, you may not be at all affected by the lowering of the TBN values for CJ-4 oils. Even better, increases and improvements in the additives related to wear protection and detergency of a CJ-4 oil will be of benefit to you. Hence, for many companies and individuals owning diesel engines, the CJ-4 rated oil COULD actually prove to be the best option, whether you have a newer model diesel or not.

How do you Evaluate Used Trucks?

Posted by Amy Nutt on June 29th, 2009 filed in Trucks

Purchasing any used vehicle comes with its share of risks. You never know if you are getting value for your money. When it comes to buying used trucks there are a number of steps that can be taken to ensure that you get a quality vehicle.

Evaluating a used truck can include the following:

There are a number of helpful internet sites designed to educate the consumer about specific used vehicles. For instance, Consumer Guide Automotive provides reliable information, reviews, and ratings on thousands of used cars, trucks, SUVs, and minivans. Doing research beforehand can really help when selecting a used truck.

Read reviews about used trucks that include an evaluation of a truck’s specifications. As well, there are many online sites that rank used vehicles which can be very helpful when selecting a used truck. Some makes and models are a better quality than others. You should find out which used trucks are the most reliable. Look for details about brakes and suspension, radiator and cooling system, and the gearbox and clutch.

You should request a vehicle history report. Auto dealership sites provide this type of information and used truck sales companies should also be able to provide you with the information. When dealing with a used truck dealership, make sure you know how much you are willing to spend. When calculating your budget, make sure you include insurance, registration fees, and any taxes you will have to pay.

Mileage is an important aspect of evaluating a used truck. Used trucks that average more than 12,000 miles per year are considered ‘high mileage’ vehicles. It is important to ask if the truck’s accumulated mileage is from highway or urban driving. Town and city driving tend to cause more wear and tear on a truck.

The condition of the exterior of the vehicle is an important factor to consider. You should look for dents, scratches, paint touch ups, rust, and any extensive body work that has been done on the truck. Ask for a history of maintenance work that has been done on the truck. If new parts have been installed, make sure there is a warranty. Don’t purchase a truck that has not been recently inspected.

Don’t buy a specialty used truck. You want to make sure that your used truck is common so that you do not have any problems acquiring any used parts.

The mechanical features of a used truck are another aspect that should be considered. Stick shifts tend to be rougher on a cars engine and performance. As well, diesel fueled vehicles have motors that last longer than gasoline fueled engines. Make sure that you test-drive the truck at different speeds so that you get a feel for the quality of the engine, transmission, and breaks.

Incidental factors that affect the value of a used truck include how well certain features operate such as the air conditioning, heater, radio, seat belts, gear shift, and windows.

Look under the truck for fluid spots. A puddle of fluid can indicate there is a leak somewhere. Also, make sure that you look underneath to check for rusty pipes and mechanical devices.

Each year, more than a million used trucks are put on the market. The chances are that you will not have a problem finding a truck in your price rage. However, the key is to arm yourself with the right knowledge so that you don’t get stuck with a lemon.

Bi Fuel Vehicles Are The Cleanest Cars On The Road

Many people have wondered if there are many other option besides hybrid vehicles that are good for the environment and run cleaner than most cars. Well there certainly are several options out there.

The first option is a cng vehicle, whether it be factory made or a vehicle with a cng conversion kit installed. Chrysler and GM stopped making factory cng vehicle in 2004. They did this because they found a loop hole in the alternative fuel law by creating E85 Flex Fuel cars.

There is no need to fear if you cannot find a factory made car on the market. You can add a cng conversion kit to any type of car, even diesel engines! These kits are amazing as they maximize your engine power, miles per gallon, and your engine life. Many cng engines have gone 1 million miles before dying.

CNG cars are superior to hybrid vehicles. The reason why is because with a hybrid car you still pay the high gas price and support foreign oil. Natural gas on the other hand is all made right here in the USA and is much much cheaper than gasoline. Natural gas burns about 90% cleaner than regular gasoline as well so its much better for the environment.

Dual Fuel and Bi Fuel simply mean that a car can run off of two separate fuels. This is very advantageous because if you are ever in an area that does not offer natural gas you can still fill up your car with regular gasoline so you can still drive it. Some vehicles are considered to be tri fuel as they can run on cng, gasoline, and flex fuel E85.

Because of the large number of cng conversion kits on the market, be careful and make sure you have done some research before installing a kit. We have several articles and pages of information on our website.

2005 GMC Denali: Things That Do Not Work For It

Denali is the nameplate given to some of the luxury models and pick -up trucks of General Motors. The name Denali symbolizes power and prestige. Yukon Denali, Yukon XL Denali, Envoy Denali, Envoy XL Denali, Sierra Denali are the models available under the Denali name.In spite of all their sophistication, there are shortcomings in the 2005 Denali line. Several features have a lot to be improved upon which are elaborated in detail in this article

The luggage space and storage space available is very less and as such it is very inconvenient to use for long journeys. The navigation system of the car also is very sensitive and causes a lot of trouble. The overall fit and finish of the car is not up to the mark and peels off early.

In electrical aspects, there are very few points provided for connection. The mileage and fuel economy of this line leaves much to be desired. The gas consumption is a lot increasing the expenses. It comes with the standard 17 inches wheel package and it costs a lot to upgrade to 20 inches package.

Many customers also complain about the quality of the leather seats and the wood trim. The sunroof also has to be manually operated by a switch and does not work on automatic controls. Coming to the sound system, it is said to cause some problems occasionally with the volume and controls of the radio and the CD player not operating smoothly.

Leather seats do not provide any level of comfort. Parking these vehicles is also a big problem because of their size. The cup holder slots provided are not sufficient.

The third row seats are really uncomfortable with no cargo space and the rear end is not that intact. Its high ground clearance makes visibility difficult. Above all, the cost of these vehicles is so much that only after a lot of consideration and thought, they should be purchased

Water leaking through the headliner is also possible. There is no provision for features like snow chains which could have helpful in times of bad weather. The speedometer provided also is very sensitive and shows incorrect readings many times. Even the customer reports that came out for 2005 GMC Denali rated it below average in the areas of suspension and drive system.

Thus the GMC Denali line is internationally famous,it has several shortcomings which need to be taken care of for the customers satisfaction and for the company’s reputation.

The Ins and Outs Of Free Shipping

The surge in online stores and an increasingly more budget minded consumer have resulted in a much more competitive market. Consumers are no longer willing to pay top dollar for a product. They are now shopping around to find the best deals. Businesses have had to make a number of marketing changes in order to attract customers. One such change is implementing a free shipping policy.

A recent survey by PayPal and comScore revealed that 43% of people surveyed didn’t pay for items in their shopping carts because shipping charges were too high. As well, according to a Harris Interactive (2008) survey, 60% of those surveyed claim free shipping is a reason they are more likely to shop online. Offering shipping for free can drastically increase store sales. In attempt to lower their shipping costs, many retailers will store their products in a number of warehouses in various locations across the country and ship their orders directly to the customers. Other companies are negotiating shipping prices with air freight companies in an effort to obtain better rates.

There are a number of ways that businesses use free delivery as an effective sales and marketing tool. A company may offer shipping free of charge for orders where the total purchase price is above a specified amount. Another fee shipping option companies will employ is offering the customer a shipping rebate in the form of money, a discount on their next order, or a coupon or gift certificate. They can also offer free shipping on specified items. Some retailers will even offer shipping for free on all items. The goal is to increase sales which will offset delivery cost losses. Other companies will provide free delivery to their members or as part of a rewards program. Sending electronic coupons to a customers email providing shipping deals on a customers next order is another effective method of increasing sales. As well, businesses may offer free delivery throughout the country including directly to ones door step.

Providing free delivery is an effective way to obtain repeat customers. Most online retailers and a growing number of traditional retailers that offer free shipping are offering it as free ground shipping. However, there now appears to be a new trend of offering better free delivery service. Some companies are offering free 2 day shipping and free overnight shipping.

The benefits of providing shipping free of charge include a reduction in the number of abandoned shopping carts, assists in the marketing a new product, improves customer loyalty, encourages shoppers to make a purchase, and helps sell excess products.

Internet shopping is one of the fastest growing retail sectors. Online shopping is one retail area that has not been affected by a slow economy and increase in gas prices. Consumers are drawn to shipping offers because they feel they are getting a good deal compared to driving to a local store. Studies have shown that customers are more likely make a purchase if free shipping is offered. More consumers are not only demanding free shipping with their orders, they are expecting it. Offering free shipping in a variety of forms is an effective marketing and sales technique that most businesses are now using. In order to compete for your business, retailers that have never offered free shipping will have to start offering it. It appears that the free shipping trend is here to stay.
